Will Luka Doncic play in the Mavericks’ Conference final game 1 against the Timberwolves today? Injury update
Luka Doncic’s Dallas Mavericks are set to play in the Western Conference finals against the Minnesota Timberwolves (May 22 8.30 p.m. ET / 5.30 p.m. PT) - but will the Serbian be ready?
To get this far, the Mavs beat the Oklahoma City Thunder 4-2 after 6 games, with the Thunder taking a 0-1 lead before coming back to 2-2 after a pair of solid performances from the Texans. After that, the tension rose and Game 6 was decided by a single point in a dramatic affair.
The Timberwolves have been a huge surprise in the postseason, going all the way against the Denver Nuggets and beating them 4-3. A nine-point difference separated the two sides in the final Game but it was Game 6 where the Wolves shone, thrashing the Nuggets 115-70 in one of the most sensational results in recent History.
Will Luka Doncic play in the Western Conference Finals? What injury does he have?
The Serbian is a huge star and a key player for the Mavs, but he has been playing in pain during recent games for his side, with fans on all sides of the court noticing how he has grimaced following particularly physical plays.
TNT’s Jared Greenberg said that Doncic has been suffering from an injury that would, under normal circumstances, keep him on the sidelines. “Today, I was told if this were the regular season, he would have been shut down for a minimum of at least two weeks”.
As per the official NBA injury report, Luka Doncic is not suffering from a single issue but various injuries, with a knee sprain, an ankle sprain, a back injury, and a sore Achilles all affecting the 25-year-old.
As for the official NBA injury update, the Mavs currently have Doncic down as ‘probable’, despite listing all of a ‘knee sprain’ and ‘left ankle soreness’ as his physical problems.
Maxi Kleber is also present on the injury list for the Mavs, with his status confirmed at the time of writing as ‘out’ with a ‘right shoulder’ injury. He joins Olivier-Maxence Prosper, who is out with an ankle sprain.
What time does Mavericks vs Timberwolves start?
