Why does Phil Foden have 47 tattooed on his neck?
Phil Foden, who is playing for England against Spain in the Euro 2024 final has a very small tattoo on the side of his neck, just under his ear. The tattoo is simply the number 47.
And why does the England player have that number in particular tattooed on his neck? It’s his shirt number at club Manchester City and has been since he made his first team debut, back in November 2017, coming on as a substitute against Feyenoord in the Champions League.
Why does Foden keep the number 47?
As a regular starter for Manchester City, Foden would likely be entitled to a far higher squad number, but he has chosen to keep the number 47. He’s kept it as a tribute to his late grandfather who died when he was only 47.
