Why did Dak Prescott tell a fan to “jump off” Cowboys bandwagon?

The Dallas Cowboys hosted the Baltimore Ravens in Week 3 of the NFL, hoping in vain for a redemption victory after falling 44-19 to the New Orleans Saints the week before, also at home. They had no such luck. Their defense had no answer to the Ravens’ run game featuring Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry. And the offense struggled to get anything going, even dealing with a fumble from star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb that led to a costly turnover that probably would have otherwise been a touchdown.

Technically, this was their third straight home loss, as they lost in the Wild Card round of the playoffs to the Green Bay Packers last season. Their Week 2 loss to the Saints, however, was their first regular-season home loss in 16 Games.

Prescott’s message to fans after Cowboys second straight loss

Quarterback Dak Prescott didn’t have his best game either, but led a 4th quarter comeback to end the game with decent stats and did just enough work to do what the Cowboys do best - get your hopes up just enough to squash them.

Tensions were high after the loss. There was a moment on the sidelines in which Lamb was seen yelling at Prescott. Everyone was clearly upset after the 28-25 loss. And when Prescott was walking through the tunnel getting heckled by a fan, he’d had enough.

It’s hard to tell what the heckler says, but it kind of sounds like “you stink”. Prescott’s response to the heckler was “Jump off if you want. Please, please...”.

Prescott is apparently referring to jumping off the bandwagon. What’s funny to me about that comment is that I don’t think there is a Cowboys bandwagon anymore. Jumping on a bandwagon is what people do when they just want to follow a winning team because they’re winning. The last time the Cowboys did that was in the 1900s. (Yes, I like to say it that way because it sounds more dramatic, but technically, it is true.)

So if a person has been on a bandwagon since the ‘90s, is it really a bandwagon at this point? If you’re a Cowboys fan, it means you’ve been suffering for a long, long time. No one chooses this life. We’re born into it and can’t get out of it. If someone jumped on in the 1990′s and hasn’t jumped off by now, then kudos to them for sticking with it.

I don’t think that was the point of the message and I know I’m getting off topic here. Prescott is frustrated, rightly so. His offensive line did little to protect him and his receivers, including Lamb, had banana fingers the whole Game. Prescott being the highest-paid player in the league though, as well as playing for the most high-profile team in the league means a lot of this falls on his shoulders.
