Why Celtic Fans Should Disregard Articles About Jota
The rumour mill continues to churn around former Celtic winger Jota, who has found himself the subject of speculation about a potential exit from Al-Ittihad. [Alwatan]
Despite the persistent rumours linking him with a move away, the likelihood of a return to Celtic remains slim, to say the least.
Since his departure to the Saudi club last summer for a record £25m, Jota has struggled to secure regular playing time, managing only 25 appearances.
His hefty wage packet—reportedly close to £200,000 a week—places him well beyond the financial reach of Celtic, particularly when considering the massive tax implications of such a transfer.
While it’s clear that both Celtic fans and possibly even manager Brendan Rodgers would welcome Jota’s return with open arms, the realities of Football finance make such a move highly improbable.
Jota’s situation at Al-Ittihad remains uncertain, but what seems certain is that a return to Celtic Park is not on the cards, at least for the foreseeable future.
