The full Celtic annual report has now been disclosed to shareholders, giving a comprehensive look at the club’s financials over the past year. One of the standout figures from the report is a significant £8.1 million spend on ‘Property, Plant and Equipment’, a sharp rise compared to the £1.8 million from the previous year. So, where has the extra money gone?

The bulk of the expenditure—£5.7 million—has been allocated towards the ongoing redevelopment of Barrowfield, the club’s training facility. This project is set to modernise the grounds and provide state-of-the-art facilities. Celtic fans can expect more hefty figures to appear in future reports, as Barrowfield’s redevelopment is still in progress. Investment in infrastructure like this signals the club’s commitment to long-term development, ensuring that their training facilities are up to the highest standard to enhance player performance and development across all levels.

The remaining portion of the £8.1 million has been spent on necessary stadium maintenance. This includes fixing seats and making other improvements to ensure Celtic Park remains a top-tier Football venue. Additionally, part of the investment was directed towards upgrading the stadium’s LCD screens, which now hang from the roof at both ends, enhancing the matchday experience for supporters.

Celtic Redevelopment Plans

Barrowfield’s redevelopment is set to deliver cutting-edge features that will elevate the club’s training capabilities. The upgraded facility will include an indoor arena with a FIFA-approved artificial surface, a fully equipped gym and fitness centre will offer players everything they need to progress. The new Barrowfield will serve as the training base for the women’s first team and the boys’ and girls’ academies, while the men’s first team will continue to train at Lennoxtown.
