The 2024 PGA Tour season came to its conclusion on Sunday, with Maverick McNealy securing his maiden victory at the RSM Classic at Sea Island Golf Club in Georgia. World no. 1 Scottie Scheffler was, of course, the star performer throughout the year, winning the FedEx Cup and the money list, his $29.2 million total almost $11 million more than Collin Morikawa, his nearest challenger.

2025 PGA Tour: key dates

The majority of the top players will now enjoy some time off over Christmas, although many will be back in action immediately after New Year, with the 2025 PGA Tour season officially beginning on Thursday, January 2, 2025 with The Sentry. The Signature event will be held the Plantation Course at the Kapalua Resort near Lahaina on the island of Maui in Hawaii. As is customary, the winner will be crowned the following Sunday (January 5).

The tour will stay in Hawaii for the second event, the Sony Open, before heading over to the US mainland for three tournaments in California, the third of which is the prestigious AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, another Signature event.

As was the case in 2024, there will be eight Signature Events, although the most lucrative is again expected to be the Tour Championship, played at Sawgrass between March 13 and 16.

The four majors in 2025 keep the same spots on the calendar.

  • April 10-13: Masters Tournament, Augusta National Golf Club, Georgia
  • May 15-18: PGA Championship, Quail Hollow Club, North Carolina
  • June 12-15: US Open, Oakmont Country Club, Pennsylvania
  • July 17-20: The Open Championship, Royal Portrush Golf Club, Northern Ireland

Scottie Scheffler back in action this December

Some PGA Tour stars will be action before the official start of the 2025 season, however. Scottie Scheffler headlines the limited 20-player field at the Hero World Challenge (December 5-8) in the Bahamas, which is followed by two team events.

The Grant Thornton Invitational (December 12-15) will feature 12 teams made up of one PGA Tour player with an LPGA Tour counterpart, while both male and female players will take part in the PNC Championship (December 19-22), a tournament with parent and child teams.
