When and where are the 2024 golf majors? Schedule, dates, courses
April, May, June and July are the three key months in the year for any golf fan as they mark the the biggest competitions of season with Augusta, Georgia the focal point next April when the 2024 Masters tees off at the Augusta National Golf Club course.
The action starts on 11 April with the final round scheduled for Sunday, 14 April when the winner will be presented with the Masters prize along with the iconic green jacket with Spain’s Jon Rahm the 2023 winner.
The focus turns the following month to the PGA Championship which will be played at the Valhalla Golf Club, Louisville, Kentucky. The four days of comPetition will take place from 16-19 May with Brooks Koepka the current champion.
June is US Open month with the Pinehurst No. 2 course in North Carolina set to be the focal point for global Golf fans with the first tee-off earmarked for 13 June with the final round set to be played on 16 June with Wyndham Clark hoping to defend his title secured in Los Angeles last season.
The Tour then moves to Scotland for the 152nd British Open with the comPetition set to be held at Royal Troon this year. Brian Harman was last year’s winner in Liverpool with this year’s event starting on 18 July and winding up on 21 July.
The Tiger returns
These are the four major events in the 2024 golfing calendar but there are many other high profile events with major prize money available starting with the Genesis Invitational (hosted by Tiger Woods) which takes place later this week (February 15-18).
The Genesis Invitational is the first of three player-hosted invitationals (along with the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard and Jack Nicklaus’ Memorial Tournament presented by Workday). Tiger Woods not only is the host this week, but he also will tee it up.
This will be his first start in an official PGA Tour event since last year’s Masters. Tournament host Woods returns to action on the PGA Tour for the first time since the Masters in 2023 – where he withdrew after the third round. Last season’s Genesis Invitational was his last full four-round effort on the PGA Tour before he was sidelined due to injury for the remainder of the season.
