How many goals has Cade Cowell scored for Chivas?

Cade Cowell has been in inspired form since his move to Chivas Guadalajara. The California-born forward was one of the most impressive young talents in MLS until Chivas prised the youngster from San Diego Earthquakes for $4 million.

The 20-year-old has taken his opportunity since moving to Liga MX and was on the scoresheet for Chivas against Pumas UNAM on Saturday evening. Cowell scored with a clinical one-touch finish, thumping the ball past Julio Gonzalez in goal for the visitors.

Cowell started on the left of a front three, accompanying Roberto Alvarado and Ricardo Marin in the forward line. Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez returned to the substitutes’ bench as he continues his recovery from a serious anterior crucial liGament (ACL) injury.

Cade Cowell nets first Liga MX goal

The young USMNT forward has impressed since making the move south of the border. His strike against Pumas was his first in Liga MX, a major milestone for Cowell. He has now played in seven Liga MX matches for the club but Saturday’s game was only the second time that he had earnt a starting berth.

Cowell has had more opportunities in the CONCACAF Champions Cup and he has taken those chances with both hands. He has appeared in two CONCACAF Games for Chivas, starting in both, and returned two goals and an assist.

Speaking after making the move to Chivas, Cowell said that he wanted to experience life outside of his comfort zone: “Playing in your hometown for so long, you know everyone at the club. It’s a happy place to be. You’re not uncomfortable. What I really wanted to do was be uncomfortable.”

“I was really excited for that — to try something new. New league, new culture, new everything.”

Cowell has certainly been making the most of his new surroundings and may well have nailed down a place in the team for the Game against Cruz Azul next weekend. The youngster faces a lot of comPetition in the attacking areas but he is showing his value to the team.
