Why isn't Ja Morant playing against the Warriors in the NBA Cup game on Friday? Injury update

Memphis Grizzlies fans are having to get used to seeing their talented, if somewhat controversial, star, Ja Morant on the wrong side of the paint. An ankle injury hampered his preseason preparations and he’s out again.

The point guard played 24 minutes of the win over the Lakers on November 7, and hasn’t featured since, missing dates with the Wizards, Trail Blazers and a return in Los Angeles. As the team prepares for Friday’s NBA Cup Game against the Warriors, he’ll once again be watching on.

When will Ja Morant return for the Grizzlies?

This time, Morant is being held back by a right hip injury, which came after a bruising fall in the third quarter of the Lakers Game. As he followed the Wizards clash in the arena, he was moving around on crutches, showing the precaution being taken.

Coach Taylor Jenkins said that he “is kind of showing a lot of progress,” but that he was being out “week-to-week.”

That doesn’t give us a whole lot to go on in terms of a return date but after the Warriors come the Nuggets (twice) then the 76ers, Bulls, Blazers, Pistons and Pelicans, taking us to the end of November. His teaMMAtes will hope they get some of the Ja magic back soon.
