The elite winning mentality at Celtic is ‘super cool’ and something goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel hasn’t experienced anywhere else in his career.

The veteran stopper joined the Hoops on a free transfer in the summer after his contract expired at Anderlecht in Belgium.

Having spent time at Manchester City, Leicester, and Nice, among other clubs, the Dane came to Glasgow as a hugely experienced pro with an established reputation.

So far, he has more than lived up to his billing and proved to be an upgrade on his good friend and former Man City teaMMAte Joe Hart.

Schmeichel’s ball-playing abilities have brought a different dynamic to Celtic’s Game both domestically and in Europe. It has allowed the Hoops to play out from the back with more freedom and security than perhaps they did when Hart was between the sticks.

In addition, the 38-year-old is a more than adept shot-stopper, and that was no more coherent than in the Scottish Premiership champions’ 2-0 victory over Kilmarnock on Sunday when Schmeichel was man of the match.

The keeper has lost just one Game since joining Celtic, and he loves the club’s elite winning mentality: “Anything but a victory is a failure,” he told Tipsbladet.

“I feel super cool about that. It’s a completely different type of pressure than I’ve used to in my career. It is a new experience.”

Schmeichel has handled hie new-found pressure expertly.

In the new year, he will decide whether to trigger a one-year extension in his Hoops contract, which would see him stay at the club beyond the end of the season.

Fans will undoubtedly hope he stays because, so far, Schmeichel and Celtic have been a match made in heaven.
