Someone locked a dog in a port-a-potty near a construction site on Pecan Point Drive in Brunswick and fled the scene.

The Humane Society of the United States is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the identification of the person responsible.

Rusty was found in the 130-degree port-a-potty when the door flung open from wind, and a woman saw the five-year-old dog inside on the verge of heat-stroke.

Construction workers hadn’t been around in a week, so it’s a miracle the dog was found alive.

Tiffani Hill, manager of Glynn County Animal Control, believes the person responsible lives nearby since they knew about the construction going on in the area.

Vets originally considered euthanasia for the dog, but rescuers refused and transferred him to No-Kill Glynn County for his treatment and rehabilitation. Rusty will then be put up for adoption when Healthy.

The investigation remains underway, and you can contact the Glynn County Animal Shelter with any details using the info in the link below.
