The 33-year-old winger, who has amassed an impressive 24 major titles during his time with the club, remains focused on adding to that tally and possibly surpassing Celtic legend Bobby Lennox’s record of 26 trophies.

With injury setbacks casting doubt over his future in recent years, Forrest now approaches each Game with renewed appreciation. Reflecting on the uncertainty of ever returning to full fitness, he’s more committed than ever to enjoying his time on the pitch.

At this point last season, it looked as of he’s kicked a ball for Celtic for the last time, but he’s managed to turn things around, and is now getting regular minutes from off the bench.

Forrest told RecordSport:  “I’ve been asked about beyond this season a few times but right now I am just concentrating on being involved with the team. I am enjoying it as much as I ever have and I’m just focusing on the here and now.

“Maybe I’ll start thinking about it afterwards, towards the end of the season. I’m just enjoying it at the moment.

“During that spell when I wasn’t involved in the team, I was maybe wondering if I’d ever play for Celtic again. Now it’s a case of not taking anything for granted. You look at the end of last season, being involved, winning the league and the Scottish Cup.

“Even going away in pre-season again. I’m not saying it’s a second chance, but you maybe felt like you might be done. I think that’s why I am really enjoying it. Is it a case of soaking it up? Absolutely, 100 percent.

“That spell out, I’ve probably never had that in my career before. I was thinking if I get back in, just make sure I really enjoy it and take it in.”

He’s yet to score this season, but he has three goals to his name in his first nine league appearances.

Ahead of him on the right, Nicholas Kuhn is having a great season, and is replacing the numbers that Matt O’Riley put up. he has three goals and five assists so far, and hasn’t shown any signs of slowing down.

Heading into the weekend in the League Cup, Kuhn has three goals and three assists in the comPetition.
