Rodgers Provides Update on Adam Idah After Nasty Gordon Challenge
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has discussed VAR’s decision to send off Liam Gordon after a shocking challenge on Adam Idah.
Gordon was initially booked for the tackle, but VAR official Alan Muir sent referee David Dickinson to review his initial decision, and Dickinson then decided to send off the Motherwell defender.
Rodgers said: (Sky Sports), “I think it felt a bit numb for him at first. Obviously it’s not a great challenge but I don’t think the player has tried to hurt him. The problem is when you leave the ground, and then it rocked his ankle.
“So, he was struggling a little bit after that. I think once he got moving he felt OK. We just have to see when he takes the boot off, but I’m sure there will be a little bit of swelling.”
As usual, Rodgers was respectful in his comments, noting that Gordon may not have meant to injure Idah.
However, the Irish striker may now have a swollen ankle, making him a potential doubt for the match against Dundee on Wednesday.
With Callum McGregor missing today’s Game, Rodgers will hope that Idah recovers well in the coming days.
Idah’s impact was certainly felt with a goal off the bench at Fir Park as he looks to cement himself as first choice over Kyogo Furuhashi, a task that not many would envy.
