Carter-Vickers Admits to Playing Through Injury for Celtic ‘For Months’
Celtic defender Cameron Carter-Vickers has discussed life out through injury and watching the Hoops midweek in the Champions League.
The USA international was open and honest about physical struggles and mental in having to watch the team without him.
Carter-Vickers said: (Sky Sports), “I missed a bit with an injury, but yeah, it was good to be back out there today, and hopefully, I can kick on now and keep going.”
“Obviously, it’s difficult to watch, but I was proud of the boys. I thought they put in a great performance.
“I had it (the toe injury) for a little while, a month, but I was kind of playing with it. It was kind of time to rest it and get it right, so that’s what I did.”
It certainly must have been hard watching Celtic lose 7-1 to Borussia Dortmund in Germany and draw 2-2 at home against Aberdeen, while on the other side Carter-Vickers watched the Hoops keep their first clean sheet in the Champions League for 7 years against Atalanta midweek.
The fact that the USA international played so long with a toe injury has its positives and negatives.
The positive is that Carter-Vickers is willing to play through injuries for the club highlighting his elite mentality, while the negative is that Celtic did not manage the injury properly, leading to a setback and an extended period out for the Celtic defender.
This is a worrying sign, and hopefully, lessons can be learned that his minutes must be managed in future.
