Rodgers Hails Schmeichel’s “World-Class Saves” After Kilmarnock Win
Brendan Rodgers spoke about Kasper Schmeichel’s impact this afternoon against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park.
Schmeichel was awarded Man of the Match at the end of the Game, with the Dane at times keeping Celtic in the match during another impressive performance from the veteran goalkeeper.
Rodgers said: (Celtic Way),”Kasper made some great saves. You could see him with the ball as well, how he could play through the pressure, which is important. At times we could have held it up better to allow us to join in more.
“He was tested and had to make saves. I know that’s what he’s world-class at. His shot-stopping is unbelievable. So he was a big reference for us.”
Schmeichel has looked like a classy player since joining in the summer on a free transfer, and despite being 38 years old, he shows absolutely no signs of slowing down.
His ability to stop goal-scoring chances remains among the best in the world, and for Celtic supporters to witness a player at such a level must be incredible.
The Dane thrives when tested, with his mentality and leadership standing out alongside his shot-stopping ability.
Despite the concerns over replacing Joe Hart in the summer, Schmeichel has settled in seamlessly in Glasgow.
