Remembering Playwright and Director René Pollesch
Be part of us for a night celebrating the life and work of the late playwright and director René Pollesch who died unexpectedly at age 61. New York theatre artist Matt Gasda and his ensemble from the Brooklyn Heart for Theatre Analysis shall be joined by David Levine for readings of two Pollesch performs Heidi Hoh, translated by Rose Riggs, and Insourcing …, translated by David Tushingham.

“René Pollesch, a prolific playwright and stage director whose work—intellectually severe but irreverent, chatty, goofy and riddled with pop-culture references—made him probably the most vital forces in German theater of the previous three many years, died on Monday in Berlin. He studied below Andrzej Wirth and Hans-Thies Lehmann on the legendary Institute for Utilized Theatre Research in Gießen, Germany. He was 61. His sudden loss of life was introduced by the Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz theater, the place he had been inventive director since 2021. Pollesch wrote roughly 200 performs and directed nearly all of them himself, usually at main theaters within the German-speaking world.
