Former Hibernian forward Tam McManus has hit out at Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers for what he perceives as a lapse in humility following comments made by Rodgers after Celtic’s 6-0 victory over St Johnstone on Saturday.

In the post-match interviews, Rodgers addressed critics who last season accused his team of playing slow and unproductive Football. This response came after Celtic showcased a dominant performance at McDiarmid Park that saw a brace from Kyogo Furuhashi and goals from Paulo Bernardo, Callum McGregor, Daizen Maeda, and Adam Idah.

McManus argued that Rodgers’ rebuttal to his critics was unnecessary and contradicted his own principles about staying humble.

Taking to social media platform X, he posted:

Celtic’s strong start to the season, with 20 goals scored and none conceded in their first six league matches, indeed marks a significant turnaround from the criticisms of last year, with the team showcasing a potentially more dynamic and effective style of play under Rodgers.

You could say that Celtic are using Angeball in attack, with a more organisied counter press and compact defensive unit.

It’s reaping the rewards for the Hoops at the moment, with a goal difference of +20, an amazing stat with just six Games played. Long may it continue.
