The Best Bathroom Ever After Is In Poughkeepsie

I recently went out for drinks with some friends and came across the most entertaining ladies' room I have ever been to. I never take my phone into the bathroom but this place broke my rule.

I have been in some crazy bathrooms in my day but none have ever been so entertaining. This one even had me break my rule about my phone being out in a public restroom.

Mini Frozen Museum in Poughkeepsie is Also a Bathroom

Not everyone is going to be able to enjoy The Minnie Frozen Museum that you will find only in Poughkeepsie at the new waterfront bar & restaurant called The Governess, the reason being it is the ladies' bathroom but guys might be able to ask for a peek. The Restaurant and bar are delicious fun so it fits that the ladies' room had to be over the top too. I don't think the men's room was themed, I forgot to ask.

The group I was with mentioned that you had to see the Frozen Bathroom but I did not expect what I saw. The door was rather unassuming but once you stepped inside you were immediately transported to Elsa's Ice Palace.

I actually stood there for a moment in disbelief then went back to the table to get my phone. I knew that words would not give this fantasy bathroom justice so yes, I took a video.

The Governess is the third in a family of restaurants by ESS Hospitality. They also have The Huntress: Whiskey Wings & Other Things on 41st Avenue in Long Island City and The Baroness on Vernon Boulevard also in Long Island City. One of those places I was told has a Titanic-themed bathroom as well, so a road trip may be in order.

Beyond the bathroom, there are other original features of The Governess which add to its enchantment. They smartly repurposed so many items you will recognize and have created an inviting and entertaining waterfront spot to meet friends. Enjoy cocktails and a surf-and-turf menu while watching the river go by.
