The Bhoys ran riot in Perth, putting in an all-star display to come away deserved 6-0 winners.

Kyogo Furuhashi opened the scoring in the 35th minute with a fine finish after being played in behind the hosts’ defence.

Paulo Bernardo added a second not long later before Kyogo nodded home to put the Bhoys 3-0 up on the stroke of half-time.

In the second 45, the Hoops didn’t let up. Callum McGregor thundered home from outside the box to make it four, with Daizen Maeda nodding home for the fifth.

The night was rounded off by Adam Idah, who finished a sublime team move, poking the ball past Ross Sinclair from close range.

Every Celtic goal was splendid this evening, which delighted boss Rodgers.

Indeed, after the match, the gaffer was full of praise for his team but also hit back at his side’s critics.

On certain occasions last term, the Hoops were condemned for a slow style of play, which was nothing like what we saw from them tonight.

“From the first whistle to the very last whistle the players were absolutely brilliant,” he said (Clyde 1 SSB).

“The goals were fantastic goals.

“[It was] a perfect night for us – not bad for a team doesn’t play good Football, I think that’s what we were told last year, wasn’t it?

“I think that was the accusation, that we were too slow, we didn’t play Football, and we didn’t score enough goals. So it’s not bad for a team that doesn’t play good Football.”

From where they were at this point last term to now, Celtic have come on leaps and bounds.

The Scottish champions are currently a well-oiled machine and look like an ultimate force to be reckoned with.
