Recently popularised when BLACKPINK’s Lalisa Manobal revealed her collection, Kasing Lung’s Monsters Collection, and in particular the Labubu doll and other accessories have been flying off the shelves. Here are our favourites.

What do Taylor Swift, BTS, and Lalisa Manobal of BLACKPINK all have in common? If your answer is their inimitable shine and unwavering star power, you would be right. As idols with incredible faNBAses spanning billions, these stars wield global iNFLuence. Case in point — all things favoured by celebrities quickly become trendy, their popularity amplified by the weight of endorsements. From restaurants and TV shows to fashion designers and luxury goods, every industry has benefitted from a Celebrity shoutout.

The current must-have item? Labubu.

Unless you’ve been fully divorced from popular culture of late, you’ll likely have heard the word ‘Labubu’ being bandied about on social media and in person. No, it’s not a new K-pop band, nor is it a trendy new type of food. In an unexpected stroke of fate that has since changed the entire landscape of collectible culture, Labubu, a monster from Kasing Lung’s limited-edition The Monsters collection of collectibles from Pop Mart, has become the hot new status symbol in town.

The rising popularity of Labubu and her seemingly overnight explosion of popularity can be credited to BLACKPINK’s Lalisa Manobal, who has just proven (again) how valuable a well-timed Celebrity endorsement can be. Most recently, Lisa created a stir, sending Blinks into overdrive when she was seen with a giant Labubu plush and a Labubu bag chain. Adding fuel to the Labubu fever, Lisa’s bandmate Rosé was also seen with her own Labubu doll, further propelling the figurine into the annals of collectible History.

Don’t even think of getting a Labubu through official means; with desirability at an all-time high, new drops are snatched up as soon as they are listed, making them as hard to get as Eras tour tickets.

Additionally, with prices for resale Labubu and Labubu accessories skyrocketing to exceed their original prices, it’s safe to say that the cheeky-looking monster has gained a cult following as popular as her Celebrity endorsers.
