Officials Confirmed as Celtic Prepare to Return to Champions League Duty
The officials have been confirmed for Celtic’s hotly anticipated clash with RB Leipzig on Tuesday evening.
The Hoops return to Champions League action fresh off the back of an emphatic 6-0 victory over Aberdeen in the semi-finals of the Premier Sports Cup yesterday.
Cameron Carter-Vickers opened the scoring with a bullet header just before the half-hour mark. Japanese duo Kyogo Furuhashi and Daizen Maeda soon made it 3-0 before the break.
Maeda completed his hat trick in the second half as Nicolas Kuhn got in on the act, rattling in via the woodwork.
The Bhoys couldn’t be in a better position going into Tuesday’s Game, but they know more than most about the challenge that awaits them.
Although they lost to Borussia Dortmund yesterday, Leipzig remains only three points behind Bayern Munich at the Bundesliga summit.
The Red Bulls have yet to register any points in the Champions League this campaign, but they have played many elite sides, such as Atletico Madrid, Juventus, and Liverpool.
They will see the upcoming Game against the Hoops as the perfect opportunity to get up and running in Europe.
The refereeing and VAR teams for the match will primarily be French.
Benoît Bastien is due to be the man in the middle: he took charge of Celtic’s late 2-1 win over Feyenoord on matchday six of last season’s Champions League group stage.
Bastien will be assisted by Hicham Zakrani and Aurélien Berthomieu, with Thomas Leonard on fourth official duties.
Benoît Millot is on VAR, assisted by Italian Maurizio Mariani.
Kick-off on Tuesday is at 8pm. The action is live on TNT Sports 2.
