New Portal On Celtic Website Raises Season Ticket Questions

A notable update has been introduced on Celtic’s ticketing website, generating significant interest among the faNBAse. Season ticket holders logging into their online accounts can now see a new page titled ‘Account Cashback,’ which displays an account balance. This is a marked departure from the previous functionality, which was limited to purchasing tickets directly from Celtic using a bank account or credit card.

This new feature suggests that the club might be preparing to test or introduce a resale option for season ticket holders unable to attend Games. Such a system would be highly welcomed by the fans, who have long advocated for this feature, common at many other clubs, but previously avoided by Celtic.

The regular sell-out status of Celtic Games often belies the reality within the stadium, where empty seats are noticeable due to season ticket holders not using their tickets.

A resale platform would not only offer fans the chance to recoup some of their costs for missed Games but also ensure that more seats are occupied, enhancing the matchday atmosphere. Provided the Game is already sold out of general tickets, this practice would pose no harm to the club’s revenue or ticketing policies.

By introducing this feature, Celtic could align more closely with modern ticketing practices, potentially improving fan satisfaction and engagement. It remains to be seen how the club will officially address the speculation and whether the ‘Account Cashback’ page will indeed lead to a resale system.

One other theory is it’s down to online relocations which is now being implemented to take the burden off the ticket office. Could it be a refund process for those who move to cheaper seats but have already paid the higher price? That in itself is a marked bit of progress since the relocation scheme has been backlogged for years — we’re talking before the pandemic.

We have reached out to Celtic for an official comment and will update as more information becomes available. Whether resales come into play or not this season, the Petition for it grows.
