There has been minimal transfer activity at Celtic this summer. Despite several positions in the squad needing to be strengthened, as we sit here at the end of June, things are radio silent.

John Kennedy did admit yesterday that a wealth of work is going on behind the scenes and that fans can expect to see some movement soon, but supporters’ concerns are growing.

Some players have been linked with moves to Parkhead this summer, though. Pontus Dahbo, Flavius Daniliuc, and Chris Mepham are all names that have been mentioned, Theo Bair being another.

The Canadian striker was a standout for Motherwell in the season gone by, scoring 15 goals and assisting six in the Scottish Premiership.

According to The Athletic, Celtic have shown an interest in Bair, whom there have now been a few transfer offers for.

Motherwell gaffer Stuart Kettlewell recently spoke about his star man.

“There’s been plenty of concrete interest in Theo”, he said (Football Scotland).

“There’s been a couple of concrete bids from clubs in two of Europe’s top five leagues. I won’t name the clubs or countries but they have not been from inside Scotland.

“We’ve loved working with him, we’d love that to continue. But sometimes that situation is outwith your control if somebody offers big money.”

Whether Celtic perhaps see Bair as an alternative to Adam Idah remains to be seen, but his acquisition wouldn’t fill fans with drastic encouragement.

Over the last year, though, he is proven in Scotland but would inevitably split opinion if signed by the champions.
