Caitlin Clark sets another WNBA record with Indiana Fever but what is it?

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you would know that Caitlin Clark is the biggest thing to hit the WNBA since, well, forever. The Indiana Fever rookie has been the subject of intense debate across the country after entering the league on the back of a record-breaking college career. There’s also the small matter of the viewership that the WNBA has enjoyed since her entry into the league which is to say, it’s been unprecedented. So, what’s the latest milestone for the former Iowa star?

Caitlin Clark breaks yet another record

Though the Indiana Fever lost 89-77 to the Seattle Storm on Thursday night, it didn’t stop rookie Caitlin Clark from writing her name into the WNBA History books once more. Indeed, the 22-year-old became the fastest player in league History to record 300 points, 100 rebounds, and 100 assists in what turned out to be a loss that dropped the Fever to a concerning record of 7-12.

Where specifics are concerned, Clark took 19 games to arrive at the milestone according to reports. For perspective, the previous record which was jointly held by former Charlotte Sting guard Andrea Stinson and All-Star Shannon Johnson at 22 games, was set back in the late 90s, which is to say it’s been a while. Where Clark is concerned, the former Hawkeyes star shot 4-of-9 from the field for 15 points against the Storm, while going 3-of-7 from beyond the arc. Mention should also be made of her six rebounds and seven assists.

While the team’s record remains suspect, they will have an opportunity to improve when they meet the Phoenix Mercury on Sunday, before taking on the two-time defending WNBA champions, Las Vegas Aces on July 2nd.
