John Kennedy’s Admission About New Champions League Format
Celtic assistant manager John Kennedy has admitted that although the Champions League’s new format this year will give his side an extra two Games in the comPetition, things won’t be altering too much in terms of the Hoops’ approach to Europe.

Over the past few years, progress on the continent has been somewhat illusive, but a slight gap was bridged in December when the Celts secured their first home Champions League win in over a decade.
The team want to continue from there and make a real mark in the new format in the upcoming season, which will draft in a league phase where each team plays eight Games versus eight different sides.
Despite this change of setup, Kennedy has revealed that the Bhoys’ preparations for Europe won’t entirely adapt.
“I don’t think it’ll (new format) change too much”, he said (Sky Sports).
“Obviously the extension going into January then kind of carries a couple of Games over beyond Christmas.
“The challenge will still be there.
“The first half of the season is always a busy period, especially with the league cup starting pretty early and Europe coming into it pretty quickly so it’s always a challenge.”
After finding out their Scottish Premiership fixtures for 2024/25 yesterday, Celtic’s opponents for their upcoming Champions League campaign will be revealed on August 29th.
