Liel Abada Recalls “Very difficult” Celtic Spell After Scoring First MLS Goal
Former Celtic winger Liel Abada described his time at Celtic as ‘very, very difficult’ after scoring his first goal for Charlotte FC in the early hours of this morning.
Capitalising on a loose ball in the backline, Abada beat his man as he entered the box and fired into the bottom corner to help his team to a vital 3-2 MLS win over Toronto. In fairness to the 22-year-old, it was a fine finish:
Right place. Right time. Right finish.

After breaking his duck across the pond, Abada has spoken out. He reflected on his Celtic spell after scoring a goal he had long been awaiting.
He said: [RecordSport] “I have been waiting for this goal for a very long time. I had a very, very difficult time in Scotland, now I’m happy and I just wanted to enjoy it.
“We are happy with the three points which are the most important. I am very pleased that I scored. Now my aim is to score more goals here.”
A marquee signing at Charlotte, Abada was crowned Man of the Match in this morning’s Game.
He has made a positive impression in the States and simply wants to enjoy his Football after a final few months at Celtic that were understandably tough for him.
Although the debacle rambled on for a while in Glasgow, it was dealt with well by manager Brendan Rodgers.
No real fuss was made and eventually, Abada was moved on to pastures new in a deal that suited all parties.
