LeBron James Expected To Go To 1 Of 2 Teams If He Leaves Lakers
LeBron James is set to become a free agent this summer. Although the Los Angeles Lakers are widely viewed as the frontrunners to get him back, particularly if they draft his son Bronny James, it isn’t a lock.
If LeBron opts to leave L.A., two teams have emerged as the favorites to nab him.
According to various odds makers the Cleveland Cavaliers are the top choice to steal LeBron away if he decides to exit L.A. The history between him and the franchise is a matter of public record. That, coupled with Donovan Mitchell’s clear desire to go to a bigger market could provide ripe grounds for a sign-and-trade.
The Lakers are one of two teams to have already prepared a trade package to present to the Cavaliers for Mitchell. While their optimism is commendable, the reality is that there is no way an offer that doesn’t include either LeBron or Anthony Davis nets them a multiple time All-Star like Mitchell.
Cleveland is expected to lose either Mitchell or Darius Garland this summer. While they would prefer to keep the former, retaining the latter and pairing him with LeBron isn’t a bad consolation prize.

The second team LeBron is being closely linked to is the Phoenix Suns. Bronny as cancelled workouts ahead of the 2024 NBA Draft with all teams except the Lakers and Suns. That has made many believe hat Phoenix is a legit player for both father and son.
One way or another, as has often been the case throughout his illustrious career, LeBron will massively shake up the NBA world this summer.
Where he ultimately decides to go will alter the championship landscape significantly.
Where will LeBron end up playing when the 2024-25 NBA season finally tips off? Time will tell.
