Celtic ‘keeper Joe Hart is set to hang up his gloves at the end of the season in what will be an emotional moment for all involved with the club.

The veteran stopper came through the door in 2021 and immediately brought much-needed stability between the sticks.

This season, he has been an ever-present figure in a period of transition, making crucial saves that have secured vital points. Indeed, calls for Hart to be Celtic’s Player of the Season are a testament to how well he has done this campaign.

When he retires, the 36-year-old will be a significant miss. It is pivotal the Hoops get his replacement on the money.

Goalkeeper is one of the most crucial positions on the park, but Hart thinks it is time for someone else to take the reigns as Celtic number one.

He said: [Glasgow Times] “I want to leave the place in as good a place as I possibly can. I’ve been lucky to be part of this. I don’t take it for granted. But it’s someone else’s turn.

“I will soak it up – but I’ve always soaked up every moment. Even when I was say on the bench at Burnley and West Ham. Those are moments in your life. The most important moments are now – and I have a job to do.

“I have said since I came up here and talked about potentially winning things. I’d love to sit down and say face to face how I feel at the end because it’s happened. Until then, I don’t know.”

With six (potentially seven) Games left of Celtic’s season, time is ticking on Hart’s illustrious career. The Englishman has adorned himself to the Parkhead faithful and in the last Game of the season – whether it be in the league or Scottish Cup – he will get a fully deserved send-off.
