The incorporation of SCR will allow Sener to strengthen its value proposition in the field of remote operators and autonomous navigation, where it already has considerable experience in national and international programmes. Sener’s strong commitment to Aerospace and Defence is reinforced by this operation, which increases its industrial and technological capabilities. The Sener group, through its Aerospace and Defence division, has reached an agreement with Japanese firm NTT Data to purchase SCR, Sistemas de Control Remoto. The operation is subject to approval by the CNMC (Spanish National Markets and ComPetition Commission). Founded in 1994, SCR is a Spanish company specialized in the design, production and operation of high-performance unmanned aerial, land and naval systems, providing comprehensive solutions in both products and services.

Jose Julián Echevarría, Managing Director of Aerospace and Defence at Sener, said: “this operation will allow Sener to accelerate its developments, generate new lines of Business and to grow in the design and production of state-of-the-art autonomous platforms. With this acquisition, Sener expects to contribute with Spanish comPetitive technologies in the European environment”.

Jose Antonio Ceballos, the CEO of SCR, said: “SCR is a leading force in the market, with advanced solutions in a critical field to guarantee the future technological sovereignty of Spain and Europe. We welcome the incorporation to the Sener Group, which brings us closer to our goal of consolidating our position as a genuine centre of excellence in the field of remote operators.”

Finally, Jorge Sendagorta, CEO of Sener, said: “SCR joins the Sener group after the acquisitions of Tryo (an Aerospace company, based in Spain), Tactix (an Infrastructures company, based in Australia) and Quark (a Data Center design company, based in Spain). These operations are part of a growth strategy focused on engineering and Technology”.

The company has a high manufacturing and integration capacity, having produced more than 1,000 platforms, and provided over 3,500 field services. It currently operates in 17 countries in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Africa. Its products incorporate state-of-the-art systems that supplement those of Sener. Through this acquisition, Sener will be able to expand its portfolio of drone systems, which guarantee optimum performance throughout their lifespan. Overall, SCR’s systems are prepared for the integration of a wide variety of payloads and are distinguished by their operational flexibility and versatility, allowing their use in all types of locations. Their auxiliary systems, developed and evolved in conjunction with the aircraft, ensure their flawless operation and low logistical footprint.

Through its Aerospace and Defence division, Sener is thus strengthening its firm industrial commitment, which began in 2018 with the acquisition of the TRYO communications group. Today, Sener has production centres in Madrid, the Basque Country and Catalonia, and technological development offices in Santander – in Spain –, as well as a production centre in Warsaw, Poland. With the addition of SCR, Sener increases its industrial capabilities for the development and production of remote operators, an area that is on a par with others in which Sener is an internationally recognized player: actuation and control systems, for which Sener collaborates with the sector’s leading multinationals (Diehl, MBDA, Saab, Raytheon, etc. ); or communications, for which Sener designs and manufactures its Data Link solutions for unmanned vehicles (Eurodron, Sirtap, among others), and develops and manufactures national electronic warfare solutions (COMINT).
