Jordan Henderson 'back training at Liverpool' ahead of return to action
Jordan Henderson has returned to Liverpool for training as part of his rehabilitation from a recent injury, according to a report.
The midfielder, who is now on the books of Dutch giants Ajax, recently sustained a muscle injury and has missed their last four Games, including an infamous 6-0 defeat away at bitter rivals Feyenoord.
He is now ramping up his recovery ahead of the Eredivisie run-in and may still head to Euro 2024 with England, and the Daily Mail report Henderson has been back at former club Liverpool to undergo one-on-one fitness sessions.
Henderson spent 12 years at Liverpool after joining from boyhood club Sunderland in 2011, going on to make 492 appearances, scoring 33 goals and winning eight trophies. He was named captain of the men's first-team following the departure of club legend Steven Gerrard in 2015.
During the summer 2023 transfer window, Henderson - formerly a major LGBTQ+ ally - made the controversial decision to join Al Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia, where homosexuality is outlawed. However, he left the club after only half a season, returning to Europe with Ajax in January.
Liverpool had been linked with a reunion with Henderson prior to his Ajax move, but manager Jurgen Klopp shut down such rumours early on in the January transfer window.
"Did Hendo have a press conference and say that or what? Ah, it's just written. That means for me it's not existing," Klopp said at the time.
"He didn't call me. We spoke actually, but not about that. So really nothing to say about that."
Reports have claimed Henderson's decision to leave Saudi Arabia so soon into his contract could see him miss out on up to £67.73m in wages.
Henderson's Ajax currently sit fifth in the Eredivisie table, a whopping 33 points behind league-leaders PSV Eindhoven.
