The NBA playoffs are just getting started but, for front offices across the league, attention is already focused on this summer’s draft. On Monday Zaccharie Risacher submitted his paperwork to the NBA, making himself eligible for the draft.

Risacher, who turned 19 earlier this month, is one of the tips for the No. 1 overall pick after an impressive start to his career in native France. He has helped JL Bourg to third to the EuroCup Finals and is recording impressive numbers.

Risacher is averaging 10.4 points and 3.4 rebounds per Game, playing 23 minutes. From outside the paint he averages 39%.

It’s always been my dream to get to the best league in the world,” Risacher told ESPN recently. “I’ve been putting the work in for this since I was a kid. JL Bourg has given me an incredible opportunity to showcase what I can do. It’s been the perfect place to start my young career. I’m really grateful to have the opportunity to play for this organization.”

When is the NBA draft?

Every year the most promising young players in basketball submit their applications to take part in the NBA draft. This year’s draft will be the 78th in NBA History and will be different to all that have gone before.

In 2024, for the very first time, the NBA draft will take place across two days. The first round will be on 26 June and the second round will be on 27 June.

The 2024 NBA draft will be held across two locations. The Barclays Center in Brooklyn will host the first round; ESPN’s Seaport District Studios, Manhattan will be used as the venue for the second round.

Projections suggest that Risacher could well be taken as the No. 1 overall pick, following in the footsteps of his compatriot Victor Wembanyama last year. Wemby was the first player selected in 2023 and he enjoyed an exceptional breakthrough season with the San Antonio Spurs. Last month Wembanyama put up a career-best 40 points and 20 rebounds in an overtime win over the New York Knicks, highlighting his status as one of the best draft prospects of his generation.
