How many Premier League goals has Haaland scored against ‘big six’ clubs?
Erling Haaland has taken the Premier League by storm since joining from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2022, winning the league title with Manchester City in his first year in England and setting the record for the most goals scored by a player in a single Premier League season.
How many goals did Haaland score in 2022-23?
The Norwegian striker bagged 36 times in only 35 appearances in the English top flight in 2022-23, in which he scored an astonishing 52 goals in 53 Games in all comPetitions. And he has also made a fast start to the latest campaign under Pep Guardiola, although he hasn’t quite hit the heights of 12 months ago.
The 23-year-old headed into the recent away game against Arsenal in the unusual position of having failed to score in three consecutive matches, which could almost be considered a lengthy goal drought by his own high standards. And Haaland was also fairly anonymous in the clash at the Emirates, in which City suffered their third successive defeat in all competitions, in what was their first fixture of the season against a so-called ‘big six’ club.
Which ‘big six’ club does Haaland have the best record against?
The Gunners have been one of the forward’s favourite victims since he landed in Manchester, with his two goals and two assists in two Premier League games last term going a long way to helping Guardiola’s men clinch a fifth league title in six seasons. City rivals Manchester United are the only ‘big six’ team to have suffered more against him, although his three goals and two assists came in the same game, with the Red Devils winning the second derby of the campaign.
At the other end of the spectrum, Haaland has failed to find the net against both Chelsea and Liverpool, although he has only faced Jürgen Klopp’s side on one occasion in the Premier League (a 1-0 defeat). Despite not scoring against The Blues, he has come out on the winning side in two games against them.
