‘Happy With That’ – Johnston on Kuhn Link-Up as Celtic’s Form Soars
Alistair Johnston has had a great start to the season at Celtic, adding goals and assists to his already strong game.
The defender marked a significant milestone by making his 50th appearance for Canada this week, a key player for his country whether he plays as part of a back three or on a right of a back four.
Celtic have been in exceptional form in all comPetitions, it must be said.
The team’s recent performances—a stunning victory over Aberdeen in the League Cup semi-final, a coMMAnding Champions League win against RB Leipzig, and a tough Premiership win at Kilmarnock—speak volumes about their current strength.
Johnston’s collaboration with Nicolas Kuhn on Celtic’s right flank has been particularly fruitful. Kuhn’s exceptional form this season has been a major talking point, and Johnston’s support from the right-back position has been crucial in amplifying Kuhn’s impact on the field.
During his international duty with Canada, where they secured a narrow 1-0 win against Suriname in the Concacaf Nations League, Johnston took a moment to acknowledge his club teaMMAte’s stellar performances.
Speaking to OneSoccer, he praised Kuhn’s form and their developing partnership:
“For me, the biggest thing is, how can I contribute defensively. Remain a really solid defender one-v-one. Attach the backline and remain a really solid unit.
“But then, with my physicality. Underlaps and overlaps. Nick Kuhn has been in great form for me and in front of me. Just supporting him and getting into dangerous positions.
“So far this year we have had a really good partnership there. It has been doing well, both domestically and on the European front. Happy with that.”
As Celtic heads into a demanding winter schedule, the partnership between Johnston and Kuhn will be crucial in maintaining their current momentum, with the hope of continuing their impressive run in both local and continental challenges.
