Prolific young Celtic striker Daniel Cummings is set to train with the club’s first team next week, CeltsAreHere understands.

It comes after the teenager’s free-scoring start to the season, during which he has netted 20 goals across 18 appearances in all comPetitions for the Hoops’ B team.

Cummings is currently away on international duty with Scotland’s under-19s, but when he turns his attention back to Celtic, the young striker will be training with the first team at Lennoxtown later next week.

Still just 18, Cummings will hope to impress manager Brendan Rodgers. The Irishman has already given senior opportunities to the likes of Daniel Kelly, Rocco Vata, Mitchel Frame, and Francis Turley since his return to Celtic last summer.

Cummings could be the next youngster to make his senior debut under Rodgers as the Bhoys prepare for what the boss has described as an ‘ultramarathon’ of fixtures between now and March of next year.

Things start next Saturday when they Travel to Tynecastle to face Hearts, a ground the Scottish Premiership champions struggled at on their last visit.

Some questionable officiating decisions arguably cost the Bhoys that day, and the 2-0 scoreline in the Jambos’ favour is one Celtic will look to turn on its head next weekend.

Kick-off is at the unusual time of 7.45 pm. Young Cummings will aspire to be in and around the squad for the hotly anticipated clash.
