After a standout loan spell at Fleetwood, Bosun Lawal will be looking to make his mark on the Celtic first team in the forthcoming campaign.

The 21-year-old will be handed an opportunity to impress manager Brendan Rodgers during pre-season, which is fast on the horizon.

The players will begin to trickle back to Lennoxtown at the end of this week, but those who were recently on international duty will be allowed some extra time off.

Lawal is one of those, but that won't tone down his ambition to make it big at Parkhead in 2024/25.

Indeed, the imposing Irishman wants to take the next steps in his career and become a regular in Rodgers' side having already played for the first team a few times.

Lawal has had two pre-seasons with the senior group, registering a few appearances.

He predominantly played as a centre-back, and recently revealed that former Celt Christopher Jullien was a big help to him.

“I was playing alongside Chris Jullien and the whole Game he wouldn't stop talking to me”, he said (Training 121 Podcast).

“He just everything so easy for me for me even though I was nervous.

“The way they (first-team players) speak to you, they make you just feel so relaxed, and tell you what to do and stuff.”

Whether he plays as a midfielder or defender, the Ireland internationalist will be keen to seize any opportunities he gets under Rodgers.

With some gaps in the Celtic squad, Lawal could well break through during pre-season and earn himself a regular place in the first-team.
