Gustaf Lagerbielke Set for Celtic Exit; Dutch Side Leading the Race
Celtic defender Gustaf Lagerbielke looks set to leave the club on loan this summer amid interest from a few European sides.
According to a report from fussballtransfers.com, Eredivisie team Heerenveen want to bring the centre-back to the Netherlands and is leading Belgian outfit KV Mechelen in the race for his signature.
It is said that Lagerbielke will complete a move before next Friday’s transfer deadline after talks were held in Glasgow yesterday.
Signed for around £3m (Transfermarkt) from Elfsborg last summer, the 24-year-old never got going at Parkhead.
Injury didn’t help him, but Brendan Rodgers never seemed to rate Lagerbielke despite his last-minute winner against Feyenoord in the Champions League.
Celtic fans will be hoping the Swede’s exit paves the way for a new arrival at the heart of defence.
Liam Scales has been reliable over the past year for his side, but many think an upgrade on the Irishman is due.
