With Brighton and Hove Albion ready to smash the Scottish transfer record for Celtic star  Matt O’Riley, Hoops fans weren’t too pleased when news surfaced yesterday about interest in another of Brendan Rodgers’ key players, Reo Hatate.

Newly promoted Premier League outfit Leicester City, who drew 1-1 with Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs in their season opener last night, are reportedly monitoring Hatate, who is said to be keen on a potential move.

Despite this, the Daily Record last night revealed that Celtic are looking to resist any offers for the Japanese midfielder.

They say that although he has long-term ambitions to play down south, he is focused on gaining consistency at Parkhead this season after an inconsistent campaign which was ravaged by injury last time out.

Celtic simply cannot afford to lose Hatate and O’Riley in one window.

The first few Games of the season have shown how key they are to the side and losing both of them this summer, never mind just one, is unfathomable.
