Galaxy Macau Invites Audiences to a World of Music in ‘Galaxy Opera Gala’

Experience a once-in-a-lifetime opera show at the ‘Galaxy Opera Gala’. Proudly presented by Galaxy Macau ^™, the show features legendary Spanish tenor Plácido Domingo alongside the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra. Galaxy Macau is bringing together iconic opera singer Plácido Domingo and the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra in a performance like no other. ‘Galaxy Opera Gala‘ will be the singer’s first show in the region after nine years, making this a spectacular comeback.

Plácido Domingo is bringing his decades of experience to present an unforgettable performance. The 83-year-old maestro is known as one of the most iNFLuential opera singers. He first gained fame in the 1990s as one-third of the famed “Three Tenors” alongside Luciano Pavarotti and José Carreras. Aside from performing as an opera singer, Domingo has also made a name for himself as a conductor and opera administrator. Over the years, he has taken the stage at the Operas of New York, Vienna, Verona, Milan, Buenos Aires, and many more. He holds 12 Grammy Awards and other accolades, with a repertoire of over 150 roles across more than 4,000 performances.

The singer will be accompanied by the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, one of the most renowned symphony orchestras in China. Leading the orchestra is Italian conductor Beatrice Venezi, Principal Conductor of the Orchestra Milano Classica and of the Orchestra Scarlatti Young, Naples.

Joining him on stage are rising stars soprano Bingbing Wang and mezzo-soprano Anna-Doris Capitelli. China-born, Italy-based Wang is the first Chinese person to hold a Master’s Degree from the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory of Music in Milan. Meanwhile, Capitelli is part of the illustrious Accademia Teatro alla Scala in Milan. Guests can look forward to a programme of mesmerising arias and duets. Expect pieces from classic operas like La Traviata, The Merry Widow, The Marriage of Figaro, Carmen, and more.

The show will also be Domingo’s debut performance at the GICC, which just opened last year. The ‘Galaxy Opera Gala’ will take place on October 20, 2024 starting 5 p.m. Tickets go for MOP/HKD 880 / 1,080 / 1,680.
