Celtic’s record-breaking signing showcased his calm and controlled style of play, impressing fans with his composure and skill. He was absolutely everywhere and controlled the middle of the pitch.

Scales highlighted Engels’ ability to remain unruffled under pressure, a quality that shone brightly as he confidently converted a penalty to solidify Celtic’s lead, right when it was needed.

Scales described Engels as exceptionally relaxed. This cool demeanour, coupled with his rapid adjustment to the high-stakes Games of the Champions League, has quickly endeared him to the Celtic fans, who have been raving about his performance ever since.

“What’s that saying? If he was any more laid back, he’d be horizontal,” Scales told RecordSport.

“Honestly, Arne’s brilliant. It takes a lot of guts to come in and play the way he’s playing, straight into these massive fixtures. Playing against Rangers, coming into the Champions League Game and doing so well. He’s got so much quality. I think everyone can see that. He’s brilliant.

“I think he deserves that record fee. He’s a top, top quality player. He’s just been brilliant. He’s really getting to know the lads as well. He’s just been top class all round. I’m looking forward to playing with him.”

He’s been great since signing. You could tell from his derby outing that he was a quality player, but his subsequent starts against Hearts and Slovan Bratislava have showcased his talent from the start.

He’s a level above the rest, and he’s only going to get better with time.

He’s had many in the media rave about him, with some pundits, like Gordon Dizel, claiming that he’s an upgrade on Matt O’Riley, who left the club for a record-breaking £30 million this summer.
