Celtic Set for EFL Friendly This Weekend
Celtic are set to play a behind-closed-doors friendly against Burnley this weekend as part of their pre-season preparations. [SunSport]
This match, not publicised by the club, comes as a move to keep the team sharp ahead of their upcoming USA tour, which begins with a match against DC United on July 21.
The friendly with Burnley provides a valuable opportunity for players like Liam Scales, Daizen Maeda, and Reo Hatate to gain match fitness. These players returned to training in the past week or so but did not participate in Celtic’s Queens Park friendly, a high-scoring 6-4 victory.

However, one notable absentee from the squad will be Daniel Kelly. The young midfielder has been excluded from first-team activities by manager Brendan Rodgers following his refusal to sign a new contract with the club, with his current deal set to expire in January.
Unlike other preseason Games this season, the encounter with newly-relegated Burnley will not be shown on Celtic TV.
