Atalanta have reportedly submitted a second transfer offer for Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley, according to Italian sources. This follows their initial bid last week, which fell significantly short of the Scottish champions’ expectations.

The Serie A club’s first offer, valued at an initial £15 million plus add-ons, was promptly rejected by Celtic. The Hoops are understood to value the player at no less than £25 million as the club has been clear about this.La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Atalanta have returned with a slightly improved bid of £18 million, with an additional £3 million in potential add-ons. Despite this increase, the offer still does not meet Celtic’s valuation of O’Riley.

Interest in O’Riley has been mounting, with his performances catching the eye of several clubs. However, Celtic remain firm in their stance, holding out for a figure they believe reflects the player’s true worth. There have been many clubs interested and Juventus being a club in the race for him as well.

O’Riley’s future remains uncertain. When it comes to the Danish midfielder’s immediate future, Celtic are in full control. They have Matt on a long-term deal and don’t need the money from his sale. Clubs will need to either put up or shut up.
