Celtic’s Bernardo Fee
Celtic looks to have secured the permanent transfer of midfielder Paulo Bernardo from Benfica. This deal, reported by Portuguese publication A Bola, represents an absolute bargain for a player who made a substantial impact during his loan spell at Parkhead last season.
According to MailSport’s Stephen McGowan, Bernardo will swap Lisbon for Glasgow for just £3.5 million. Bernardo, who made it clear to those closest to him that he saw his future at Celtic, had a decent-sized say in Celtic’s double-winning season. His iNFLuence on the pitch was sometimes understated but when he came to life he helped create some memorable moments. Securing his talents for such a reasonable fee is great Business.
Both the player and the club have worked tirelessly to finalise this transfer. With this deal now reportedly in place, Bernardo should be back in Hoops shortly. For a player of his potential, the £3.5 million price tag is an incredible value and he’s only going to improve.
The midfielder will likely be part of Celtic’s USA tour where they will be taking on DC United, Man City and Chelsea across the pond before returning to Glasgow to prepare for their first SPFL Game of the season against Kilmarnock.
Celtic have been quiet in the window until now but they’re kicking into life as the clock ticks down to a new campaign. It’s great that Bernardo will be a part of that.
