After weeks of nothing, Celtic transfer news is moving fast. Portuguese publication A Bola has reported tonight that Celtic and Benfica have reached an agreement for the transfer of midfielder Paulo Bernardo.

The talented midfielder is set to become a permanent member of the Celtic squad, after his successful loan spell last season.

Bernardo, who made his mark specifically in the Glasgow derby Games, made his intentions clear at the end of the campaign. He expressed to those closest to him that he saw his future with Celtic. Both Bernardo and the club have been working diligently to work on this deal, and it now looks to have paid off. There was a buyout clause in his loan agreement but Celtic wanted to renegotiate a price lower than the £6m that was originally agreed.

With the agreement now reportedly in place, this transfer could be officially completed very soon. Celtic fans can look forward to seeing Bernardo continue to develop and contribute in the green and white hoops.

This is off the back of a day when we’ve heard about Kasper Schmeichel’s timeline for when he will become a Celt and another goalkeeper will be joining him, Aston Villa man Viljami Sinisalo is all set to pen a five year deal to be Kasper’s understudy.
