Celtic’s Greg Taylor explains why he never takes anything for granted in football
Celtic defender Greg Taylor is one of four Bhoys who will play a part for Scotland at EURO 2024 following his fine campaign at Parkhead.
Per Transfermarkt, the 26-year-old was almost ever-present during Brendan Rodgers’ double-winning season, registering three goals and five assists in 46 appearances across all competitions.
Of course, Taylor has been the only left-back on the books at Celtic for a few months now amid Alexandro Bernabei’s loan move to Internacional for the remainder of 2024.
Nevertheless, he has earned his place in Rodgers’ backline, providing a consistent stream of performances to ensure he got on the plane to Germany, which is the second major international tournament he has been involved in.
Now, he has opened up on why he never takes anything for granted in Football as Scotland look to make History at EURO 2024.
Greg Taylor on why he never takes anything for granted
International Football has taken precedence for now due to EURO 2024, and Taylor has revealed his ambition to stay on the scene for as long as possible with Scotland, which is only made possible by his work at Celtic.
Either way, the former Kilmarnock man isn’t someone who counts his chickens in football, and he plans to savour every major experience along the way.

He stated [BBC Sport]: “To go to a major tournament once with your country is more than any young boy can dream,” he said. I didn’t feature in the last tournament so I’d love to play some minutes in this tournament.
“If that doesn’t come, I can still say I’ve been to two major tournaments with my country. I’ve got 14 caps now for my country, and I’ve never taken one for granted. I hope I get more than that.”
You get the impression that Taylor is keen to make a mark in Germany this summer, even if Andy Robertson and Kieran Tierney stand in his way of gaining some minutes.
Regardless, it will be great to see him and his Celtic teammates in action this summer, and hopefully, they can help Scotland to achieve big things at the tournament before reporting back to Lennoxtown after a well-deserved rest.
