Celtic Duo Set to Meet on International Duty
Celtic fans will have a special interest in this international break as two of their own, Alistair Johnston and Auston Trusty, are set to face each other.
The Canada-USA match will take place at Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City this Saturday, marking a rare occasion where club teaMMAtes go head-to-head on international duty.
Auston Trusty, who joined Celtic for a £6 million fee from Sheffield United on deadline day, has earned a recall to the US national team. This is his first call-up in over a year and comes shortly after his move to Celtic, where he has yet to make his debut. Trusty was an unused substitute in the Glasgow Derby, which saw Celtic claim a 3-0 victory over their city rivals.
On the other side, Alistair Johnston will represent Canada after impressing in the Copa America, where Canada reached the semi-finals under the guidance of their new coach, Jesse Marsch. Johnston, who started in the Glasgow Derby, has been a consistent performer for Celtic, solidifying his position at right-back.
The absence of Cameron Carter-Vickers from the US squad is notable but understandable, as he is currently recovering from a minor injury. His recovery is crucial for Celtic as they prepare for a series of important matches following the international break.
