Chris Sutton has reacted to the night’s events in the SPFL, as Celtic and Aberdeen pulled nine points clear of Rangers in the title race. Celtic won 2-0 to Dundee, while the Dons won over Phillipe Clement’s men.

The opening 45 minutes against Dundee saw Celtic dominate possession, creating a steady stream of chances with at least six opportunities to break the deadlock. Despite their control, Celtic couldn’t find a way past Dundee’s well-organised backline, which held firm to keep the Game goalless heading into the break.

Early in the second half, Rodgers made a bold triple substitution, introducing Daizen Maeda, Alistair Johnston, and Reo Hatate. This tactical switch gave Celtic fresh energy and creativity, immediately tilting the match in their favour. The changes quickly paid off, with Celtic finally breaching Dundee’s defence and asserting their dominance over the Game.

The full-time whistle saw Celtic secure a comfortable win, further extending their lead over Rangers, who stumbled in a 2-1 defeat to Aberdeen at Pittodrie.

Rangers’ slip-up at Pittodrie prompted former Celtic striker Chris Sutton to take to social media, much to the delight of Celtic fans. Commentating on the Game for Sky Sports, Sutton offered a frank assessment, posting: “Incredible night and atmosphere at Pittodrie. Well played Aberdeen and Jimmy Thelin👏👏… Where do Rangers and big Phil go from here? Rangers are rotten…”

Celtic’s lead in the Premiership now sits at nine points over Rangers as we approach the international break. Aberdeen’s win has pulled them level with Celtic, making Saturday’s League Cup semi-final clash between the two sides even more significant. Both Celtic and Aberdeen will look to assert their dominance in what promises to be an intense battle.

Meanwhile, Rangers are left with little room for error as they aim to close the growing gap at the top. The pressure is on for Philippe Clement’s side to pick up form in every upcoming fixture.
