Dundee are heading into Wednesday’s challenging match at Celtic Park without key players, including starting goalkeeper Trevor Carson, who has been ruled out due to a recent injury.

Manager Tony Docherty confirmed that Carson, who recently took over the starting spot from Jon McCracken, will be unavailable. The experienced goalie, that Brendan Rodgers wanted at Celtic during his first spell, has started the last few Games for Dundee.

Jon McCracken will now step back into the lineup, eager to seize the opportunity. Having recently been included in Scotland’s national team squad by Steve Clarke, McCracken will be looking to impress, both to reclaim his regular spot at Dundee and to further his national team aspirations.

Docherty expressed hope that Carson’s injury will be short-term to The Courier, stating: “Trevor picked up a wee knock so he’ll be out of contention. I’m hoping they’ll make a full recovery and be back in contention for Sunday.”

With Dundee missing their first-choice keeper and facing an in-form Celtic side at Parkhead, the pressure will be on McCracken and the Dundee defence to rise to the occasion.

Celtic are coming off an impressive 3-0 win at Motherwell, but have some injury concerns of their own. Adam Idah has been sent for a scan after he was in the receiving end of a bad tackle, with his ankle getting a sore one. He’s been in a moon boot since the incident.
