LeBron opens up on Bronny’s “unbelievable” first basket

LeBron James and his LA Lakers side failed to beat a spirited Cleveland Cavaliers side (134-110) who remain undefeated in the NBA, but this wasn’t the main story from a Los Angeles point view.

Instead, the most famous father-son relationship in sport took the headlines as Bronny, son of LeBron, scored his first points at the elite level of basketball.

With LeBron on the bench, Bronny came into play to a standing ovation with 5:16 left as his side trailed 119-98.

He assisted Dalton Knecht before putting away his first NBA points on a step-back, 14-foot jumper over Tristan Thompson with 2:03 left.

However, a memorable night could have become even more special had he hit an agonisingly close three-point attempt with less than 60 seconds to play.

“To see him get his first NBA basket in this arena where he grew up not too far away from here, it’s an unbelievable moment,” LeBron said in the aftermath of the defeat.

Bronny basket ‘a dream come true’

“Twenty thousand fans screaming my name to get in the game... If the role’s reversed, I don’t know if I would have been able to handle it”, the King admitted.

As for Bronny, he called the two-pointer “a dream come true”, adding that the fan reception “felt really good after the fact. I was still in Game mode when I hit the shot, so I didn’t really acknowledge it while I was playing.”
