Benjamin Cremaschi bags contract extension: How much is his Inter Miami salary?

Still only 19 years old, Benjamin Cremaschi has enjoyed a whirlwind two years since making his senior debut for Inter Miami.

Cremaschi has gone from anonymous academy prospect to 2023 Leagues Cup winner and teammate of Lionel Messi, even receiving a call-up to the USMNT earlier this year. After such a rise, Cremaschi has now been rewarded with a new contract to tie him to Miami for at least another three years.

Inter Miami announced on Monday that Cremaschi’s new deal would keep him at the club through the 2027 MLS season, with an option to extend through 2028.

Details of Cremaschi’s new contract have not yet been made public but it’s fair to assume that he’s received a Healthy increase on his previous salary. His previous base salary for 2024 was $104,716, just $33,300 above the league’s minimum wage.

Why does Benjamin Cremaschi wear the number 30 jersey?

Since breaking through to the senior team, Benjamin Cremaschi has worn the relatively obscure number 30 jersey. It may seem random but it’s actually a tribute to his sporting-hero-turned-teammate, Lionel Messi.

When he joined the Barcelona senior squad as a 16 year old, Messi was given the number for his first Games with the club. The Argentine later returned to that jersey when he joined Paris Saint-Germain and his usual number 10 was taken by Neymar Jr.

If Cremaschi continues on his current trajectory, the young midfielder could make the number 30 jersey famous in his own right. Data released in June showed that Benjamin Cremaschi’s jersey was the 25th most popular in MLS, just one place behind teaMMAte Sergio Busquets.

“It feels good to sign this contract, knowing I’ll be staying at Inter Miami, it’s a huge accomplishment… I’m just happy to continue to represent this city,” Cremaschi said on Monday after signing the new deal. “Everything has helped me, from the Academy, to Inter Miami CF II, to the first team. I’m obviously going to work hard on the field for myself and the people around me, for this city, to inspire more kids like me.”
