Atalanta Warm Up For Celtic Clash With Comfortable Sunday Win
Atalanta warmed up for their match against Celtic on Wednesday evening with a comfortable win over Venezia yesterday.
Gian Piero Gasperini took his side to Venice on Sunday afternoon and secured a convincing 2-0 victory.
Croatian international midfielder Mario Pasalic opened the scoring seven minutes in before in-form striker Mateo Retegui made it 2-0 just after the break.
Unlike their opponents, the Bergamo took their chances and eventually ended the Game as comfortable winners, warming up for their clash with the Hoops in fine fashion.
The Bhoys head to Italy on Wednesday after a somewhat contrasting few days since their return from the international break.
Brendan Rodgers’ side drew 2-2 with Aberdeen despite leading 2-0 at the break on Saturday afternoon, yet still extended their lead over Rangers at the summit of the Scottish Premiership by the weekend’s end.
The Gers’ dismal 1-0 defeat in Kilmarnock meant the Bhoys moved six points clear of them in mid-October.
Things aren’t great over at Ibrox, but Celtic will turn their attention to their own flock ahead of their upcoming midweek match.
Avoiding another hefty European scalp will be a key priority for Rodgers and Co. going into Wednesday, although if the Irishman deploys a tactical style similar to the one he did in Dortmund, there might be no debate over how things may go.
Celtic fans aren’t entirely optimistic going into the Champions League matchday three clash, which perhaps tells its own story.
